My research focuses on transnational environmental issues that can only be addressed by international cooperation. A key feature of this work involves establishing the relationship between the Earth System and the International System, and then seeing how this relationship can be changed, for the betterment of humanity, by the design of institutions, including treaties, customary international law, and decisions and resolutions adopted by international bodies.
